Greenhouse Plans – What they can do for you

June 29th, 2006 by Greenthumb

If you want to build a greenhouse, you are going to need plans that you can follow during the process.  By having greenhouse plans that you can rely on, you will be able to more easily stay on track, while also ensuring that your end result is one that you are satisfied with.

Listed below are a few reasons that you need greenhouse plans before starting any project.

1. Greenhouse plans will give you the information that you need in order to stay on track throughout the project.  When using plans, you will be able to take what you see on the paper, and then put it into action.  This is much easier than trying to work out of a plan that you have in your head.

2. With greenhouse plans, you will also know exactly what materials you need, and where they go.  Again, this is easier than trying to work from scratch.  By working without plans you may find out that your end result is not what you expected, and that you also paid more than you had to.

3. When you use greenhouse plans you can get the exact size that you want.  This is particularly important if you are dealing in a tight space, or if you need a certain dimension in order to hold all of your flowers and plants.  By not using a plan your greenhouse may end up being sized completely wrong.

Overall, greenhouse plans offer many benefits to anybody that is going to be taking on a building project.

Greenhouse Kits – What you Get

June 26th, 2006 by Greenthumb

When you buy greenhouse kits, you get everything you need in order to build the unit that best suits your needs.  There is no reason to build your greenhouse from scratch when you can simply buy a kit and be supplied with everything that you need in order to get started.

Greenhouse kits contain several different key components, and they are as follows.

1. The tried and true design so you do not have to re-invent the wheel. Over the years, we have had customers attempt to design a greenhouse themselves only to come back later and purchase a kit. With a kit there is no guesswork and you can have a solid, well-designed greenhouse in a matter of days.

2. The necessary panels that you need in order to make your greenhouse durable enough to withstand the outdoor conditions. Greenhouse kits come with just the right amount of covering so you spend unnecessary money buying material that is not needed. Make sure you buy a kit that has replacement material available for you down the road. Most twin-wall material will last several years (use the warranty period as a guide).

3. The frame which is the backbone of your greenhouse and all the hardware connect the pieces.  This is the more difficult part to engineer on your own. Having a frame designed with just the right measurements saves the guesswork.

4. Many greenhouse kits give you a plastic base or are designed so a base is not necessary so that there is no need for a foundation.  This makes the building process much easier.

5. A door which will allow you to easily enter and leave your greenhouse. Designing a custom door can be the most challenging part of a custom unit.

6. An assembly video or plans that will show you how to take your greenhouse from beginning to completion in no time at all.

7. When you are buying a greenhouse kit, it is advisable that you find one that has a warranty.  This way if anything goes wrong with your greenhouse, you will not have to pay for replacement parts.  Most warranties cover manufacturer’s defects and deterioration from UV rays for a specified period. This will give you the peace of mind that you need.

Greenhouse kits make the building process simple.  If you want a greenhouse, but are not the handiest person in the world, you should opt for buying a kit.  Anybody can build the greenhouse of their dreams by using one of these kits.
