A greenhouse is a wonderful thing and sometimes a dream come true. Greenhouses can be welcome additions to a backyard and a place filled with beauty.
Come with me as we walk through one of many possible greenhouses. If you have a greenhouse or have always wanted one, join me on this little journey.
As we walk toward the greenhouse we see the way the structure fills the area, adding a space that is filled with blooms and perfumed fragrances. Even the outside of the greenhouse is perfect and there are pots waiting to be filled with flowers. Travel up the brick path and open the door of the greenhouse.
When you enter the greenhouse you will see that everything is very tidy. Someone has taken care and organized the greenhouse beautifully. There are seedlings just getting started and rows of herbs ready to be used in salads, salsas and other recipes.
If you look carefully you will notice several kinds of flowers that are in bloom or ready to bloom. It is amazing how many different flowers can be grown.
Fresh vegetables are waiting to be picked and cleaned, maybe to be used for dinner this evening. Other vegetables look like they will be ready to be eaten very soon.
There is a special storage area for all the greenhouse supplies and accessories. On one side of the greenhouse you see a shelf that holds books and magazines about greenhouses and greenhouse gardening.
Greenhouses are places of wonder and beauty. If you have a greenhouse, take time to appreciate it. If you dreaming about owning a greenhouse, make it a dream that comes true very soon! There are manygreenhouse kits to choose from!

Every greenhouse owner needs and uses greenhouse supplies. If you are just getting started in greenhouse gardening you will need to know how to choose greenhouse supplies. If you have been a greenhouse gardener for awhile it may be time to add new greenhouse supplies or do a little replacing.
Here are some things to think about when choosing greenhouse supplies:
WHO will be using the greenhouse supplies? If you are the only one who will be using the greenhouse supplies you can purchase just the things that work for you. Maybe a child will be helping you and if this is the case you may need some greenhouse supplies especially made for children. Will anyone who will be gardening need ergononic greenhouse supplies to help prevent unwanted wrist pain?
HOW will the greenhouse supplies be used? Will your greenhouse supplies get a lot of use or will they be used on a limited basis? This can make a difference when purchasing greenhouse supplies. Do you have a business that makes great use of greenhouse supplies or is do you garden as a hobby in a really small greenhouse?
WHEN will the greenhouse supplies be used? Will your greenhouse supplies be used year-round or only for a few months a year? What will you be growing in the greenhouse and which supplies will you need at the various times? For instance, do you plan to start seedlings in your greenhouse? If so you will need greenhouse supplies late in the winter or early spring so you will be ready to get the seedlings started.
Consider WHO, HOW and WHEN when you are getting ready to purchase greenhouse supplies and you will be able to make wise choices.

The greenhouse itself should get a thorough wipedown one or two times a year. Use a bleach and water solution and wipe down the greenhouse frame, the greenhouse benches, vents and fans and the greenhouse covering. You might also want to treat the foundation to make sure it’s disease-free.
Make sure all greenhouse accessories are in working order. Check to make sure the vents, heaters, and watering supply and see if they are in need of replacement or repair.

Greenhouses can be places to learn many different kinds of things. Owning a greenhouse means that lessons will be learned. In many cases, lessons that build charactor.
Patience is one of the lessons learned by those who own greenhouses.
It takes patience to build the greenhouse or wait until it is built. Patience is acquired while putting a greenhouse together and organizing all the various components. When you start plants from seeds your patience may reach an all-time high as you wait for the plants to emerge, the flowers to bloom and or the vegetables to grow large enough to eat. If you work with children or new gardeners in your greenhouse you will not only be learning how to be patient, you will be passing that quality along to others.
Greenhouses are great places to learn how to relax. Wander through a greenhouse and you will be amazed at the beauty and peacefulness. If you allow yourself to enjoy the wonders of a greenhouse you will be able to relax and slow down. The business of your life will fade away, even if just for an hour or two.
In a greenhouse a person can learn a new skill. A greenhouse is the perfect place to discover how to plant, sow and reap. Inside a greenhouse you will learn about taking care of living, growing things. Greenhouse gardeners can find out how ventilation and watering systems work.
Appreciation is something that gardeners learn while working in a greenhouse. Appreciation of nature and the miracle of growth, of being able to nurture and tend to plants and flowers that begin as fragile things and soon grow into sturdy, healthy things.
These are just a few of the lessons that can be learned by those who own and work in greenhouses.

When you own a greenhouse and work with greenhouse accessories on a regular basis you will want to make sure you keep the greenhouse and the greenhouse accessories clean as part of your regular greenhouse upkeep.
If you want to keep your greenhouse and greenhouse accessories in good shape you will want to clean everything periodically. This will help keep your plants and flowers healthy and strong.
When greenhouse gardeners neglect this area of gardening they are courting disaster. You need a healthy environment to prevent pests and diseases from taking over the greenhouse.
Start by planning a major cleaning effort of the greenhouse and all greenhouse supplies at least once a year. Get rid of all greenhouse accessories that are not in good shape.
One of the best times to schedule this cleaning is right before spring sowing. This will get your growing efforts off to a good start.
Another time to clean the greenhouse and the greenhouse accessories is in early autumn. You will be returning plants to the greenhouse during this time and these plants need the most healthy environment possible to survive.
Winter is the worst time to thoroughly clean the greenhouse and greenhouse accessories. During cleaning the plants need to be moved outside and you will have all the windows, doors and vents open. It is far too cold during this time of year to schedule a good cleaning.
Use a bleach water solution and clean all the greenhouse accessories. Check for broken and cracked pots, shelves and benches. Clean and sterilize all your gardening tools as well. Throw out old fertilizer, potting soil and seeds.
Keeping your greenhouse and greenhouse accessories clean will help ensure your success as a greenhouse gardener.

Any greenhouse gardener who is in the business of growing flowers either as a hobby or as a business venture needs to have the recipe for successful greenhouse flower growing.
This recipe will help you grow the healthiest, most beautiful flowers possible. Keep the recipe where you can see it or commit it to memory and it won’t be long before you have flowers you can be proud of.
The recipe is as follows:
One part proper greenhouse heating
Add cleanliness
Stir in experience
Mix together and you will have a wonderful recipe for success with flower gardening in the greenhouse.
Greenhouse heating is important because if you have too much heat the flowers will wilt. If there is not enough greenhouse heating the flowers will not be able to grow. Greenhouse heating is also a crucial factor after the flowers have been cut because they will wilt very quickly if the temperature is too high. The best idea may be to cut the flowers and then move them to a cooler area as soon as you can.
The younger the greenhouse flowers the longer they will last. The fresher the flowers are the longer they will last, too. Cut the greenhouse flowers before they are in full bloom and you will have flowers that are the perfect age.
Disease is an issue in the greenhouse since it is an area of high humidity. This is why part of your recipe for success must include a clean greenhouse. Keeping the greenhouse clean is imperative if you want to have healthy flowers. Use a bleach/water solution and clean out the greenhouse each year (summer is usually a good time).
And of course who can deny that greenhouse success comes with trial and error. Like anything else, the more you do it, the more you learn. You can read all the greenhouse books in the world, but true learning comes about when you add in the real world experience. Don’t get frustrated with failure, take notes and learn from your mistakes. Each year it will get easier and easier to be a successful greenhouse grower!
Remember the recipe for successful flower gardening in the greenhouse is greenhouse heating + cleanliness + experience.
